Self Assessment Resources

3 MBTI-like Assessments:   Below are not the actual Myers Briggs Temperament Inventory (MBTI) tests, but very similar, each takes about 10 minutes.  I have included 3 different assessments in order for you to see if there are any differences among your results. Even with the actual MBTI, assessment tests are not meant to be taken over and over as a means to ‘verify’ type. Verification happens through studying each dichotomy, then studying the corresponding cognitive function stacks, and then thorough introspection to determine your best fit type. Taking these will be a good first step to spark deeper introspection:

Gallop's StrengthsFinder($19.99 on their website, includes a book):   Ranks your top 5 strengths of 34. Your top 5 Strengths in order are unique to you, only 1 in 33 million people will have those 5 Strengths in that particular order!  After taking StrengthsFinder, highlight the parts of the report that resonate most and the things you want to work on based on strengthening those. Unlike MBTI, StrengthsFinder results will (and should) change over time as you are working to strengthen particular ones. I did this myself: and after 5 years I took it again, and saw that the things I worked on actually came to fruition by having become new strengths (one example was that it said to partner with an 'Activator' – and after having done this and working on being an ‘Activator’ it showed up in my top 5 some five years later. If you see the same strength appear again, those are what I consider ‘super-strengths’.

Verified MBTI Type:   E N F J  (Extrovert, iNtuitive, Feeling, Judging)

ENFJ: Popular and sensitive, with outstanding people skills. Externally focused, with real concern for how others think and feel. They see everything from the human angle, and dislike impersonal analysis. Very effective at managing people issues, and leading group discussions, they live in the world of people possibilities. More so than any other type, they understand and care about people, and have a special talent for bringing out the best in others. They are focused on understanding, supporting, and encouraging others. They make things happen for people, and get their best personal satisfaction from this.
